Protect Your Identity
RandomChat is designed for anonymity. Keep it that way by protecting your personal information:
- Never share personal information: This includes your real name, address, phone number, email, workplace, or school.
- Don't show identifying details on camera: Be aware of what's visible in your background—mail, documents, or location-revealing items.
- Use a generic username: If you mention a name, make up something generic.
- Don't share social media accounts: Keep your online identities separate.
Safe Chatting Practices
- Trust your instincts: If something feels wrong, click "Next" immediately.
- Don't feel obligated: You owe nothing to strangers. End any conversation that makes you uncomfortable.
- Keep conversations light: Avoid deep personal topics with strangers.
- Be skeptical: People may not be who they say they are.
- Don't agree to meet in person: RandomChat is for online interaction only.

Your safety is in your hands. RandomChat provides tools for anonymous conversation, but you control what you share and who you talk to. When in doubt, click "Next" and move on.
Is Random Chat Safe?
Is random chat safe? It is one of the most common questions we hear, and the honest answer is that it is as safe as the habits you bring to it. RandomChat does its part: we never ask for your email address or phone number, video travels directly between you and your partner without being recorded, and text messages are not stored after delivery.
Some people worry that a partner could record them without their knowledge. RandomChat itself records nothing, but no website can stop another person from filming their own screen. That is why the best protection is simple: keep your face out of view if you are unsure, never show anything you would not want to see online later, and press Next as soon as something feels wrong.
If someone breaks the rules, report them so our moderators can review it. Our Terms of Service explain what is not allowed on RandomChat.
Mental Health
While RandomChat can be a fun way to meet people, it's not a substitute for professional help if you're struggling:
- If you're feeling depressed, anxious, or in crisis, please reach out to a mental health professional.
- Don't rely on strangers for emotional support on serious issues.
- Take breaks from the platform if you're feeling overwhelmed.
Stay safe and enjoy meeting people from around the world!
